What is ANI, AGI and ASI

ANI: Artificial Narrow Intelligence

AGI: Artificial General Intelligence

AGI: Artificial General Intelligence

Up until the year 2023, the AI that we have seen can only handle specific(or narrowly defined) tasks. This is because most of the AI models cannot take the learning it received from training data and then generaalize it for other tasks. ChatGPT, released by OpenAI, in Nov 2022 and Google Bard appear to have higher capabilities than ANI. But they still represent ANI or Artificial Narrow Intelligence.

AGI or Artificial General Intelligence represents the next level of capability. AGI capable AI systems can take the learning it received in one area and learn how to do a similar task in another domain.  Eg: If we have a model that knows how to write English essays and teach it Spanish words additionally, it can then, by itself learn to write essays in Spanish. AGI systems thus represent human level of intelligence.

ASI: Artificial Super Intelligence

ASI: Artificial Super Intelligence

ASI stands for Artificial Super Intelligence. ASI systems will have intelligence higher than that of human beings. Hence, they can perform tasks faster and better than most humans, and they can perform these tasks even if we do not train them to perform these tasks.
